How do i remove a device from spotify connect?

julliiaaq49

I was at my friends house yesterday and we played music on her stereo with my spotify account. I'm home now and i still see her stereo's name in spotify connect.

I can still play music at her house even though i'm not there.

I managed to get it deleted from my phone by turning "only devices closeby" on.

I can't find this option on my macbook.

How can i remove her stereo from spotify connect?

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out to us about this - we'll be happy to help out.

There is an option to show local devices only which should remove any devices which are not on your local network.

To do this, just open the Spotify app on your device and go to Settings > Devices > switch to "Show local devices only".

Let us know if this works for you! We'll be here in case you need any further help with this.

Hello @Loowee,

Thanks for getting in touch!

If you notice that an unknown device is using your account, we recommend doing the following:

  1. Sign Out Everywhere on this page
  2. Change your password
  3. Remove unknown apps that have access to your account from here

Some third party devices for example, won't be affected and you'll need to disconnect your account on the third party's side. However if you don't have access you might need to consider creating a new account. Here's instructions how to start over with a new account without losing any music.

Hope it helps! Let us know if you have further questions.

Have a nice day.

3 years going and this is still not solved. Echo devices that I have returned are still showing up in my spotify devices menu, despite unlinking alexa from "approved applications". Rather than having to create a new account and transfer everything over, how about Spotify just fixes the problem.

Hi there,

You can go here, log in and remove the device(s) you want to.

Hope this helps!

Hey @dagirardin,

Apologies for the confusion.

We've corrected the link @Guido posted on how to transfer your music collection from one account to another. You can also find it here.

I have a similar issue. I haven't used a specific device in over a year and still have it listed in my Devices and can not remove it from device list. There is an Echo Show that I can not remove for the life of me. I am almost to the point that I need to cancel my account to get this device off of my profile.

FIX this ASAP!!!!

Hi Peter, there is no such option in the Devices menu on macOS app. There's just "Open Devices menu", from where I cannot remove any devices or set local/network preferrence.

Hey there @michal88,

Thanks for getting in touch!

Note that this setting is only available on mobile devices. You can turn it on from there and it will be taken up by your account on all devices.

Hope you find this useful. Keep us posted if you have any questions.

Hi @Mihail, sadly, your workaround doesn't work. When I turn on "Show local devices only" on iOS app, the setting does not apply to macOS app. Is there any way to make it work?

Hey @michal88,

Thanks for the reply.

Do you mean that even when you have the Show local devices only setting switched on from your phone, you still see the odd devices on your Mac Desktop app?

If that's the case, could you try logging out and back in on both devices to make sure all device settings are properly synced and let us know if that makes a difference. Also did you perform the steps from the Solution suggested by @Guido?

Keep us posted.

this worked! also i found that spamming vulgar songs at max or fluctuating volumes and the same verse of super annoying songs makes the message clear for them to get off my account 🙂 thanks

Hi Peter,

I have the same issue. The "unauthorized" device is showing in my devices list. Both in my mobile phone and laptop. I followed what you suggested but there would still be times that the "unauthorized" device would interrupt my music listening. Does this mean that my account was hacked and my premium account is being used by other accounts?

Your reply would be much appreciated.
