I can often only play first song of an album

Hi there!

I have an odd problem when listening to new albums via the Desktp app on the Mac:

I often can only listen to the first song. The 2nd song or later songs won't play. Neither when I wait to the end of the 1st song nor when I just click the 2nd song. However on my iPhone I can listen to the 2nd song or other later songs in the album! Very weird!

Hi there @halloleooo,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community. We're happy to help.

Can you perform a clean reinstall of the app? This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

If that doesn't do the trick we suggest that you remove your hosts files. You can do that by following these steps:

  1. Open Finder and, in Finder’s menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder. In the box, type the following location: /private/etc/hosts and press return
  2. A new Finder window will open and your Mac’s hosts file will be selected. Click and drag it out of the Finder window and drop it on your desktop
  3. To open it, simply double-click and it will display the file’s contents in TextEdit
  4. Check for any entries with Spotify in the address
  5. If you do find any lines with Spotify, please remove them
  6. Save your changes and restart Spotify

Let us know how everything goes 🙂

Take care!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

There were no lines with Spotify in the `hosts` file. 😞

Hey @halloleooo,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Just to confirm - have you tried to perform a clean reinstall as @Jeremy suggested above? This helps in many similar cases, as it removes any damaged files from previous installations.

If that doesn't fix things - could you give our web player a go and see if you can replicate the behavior there?

Keep us posted!
