Local files from mac to iphone

I created a playlist in spotify on my mac containing songs from my local files, but the playlist can't be seen when I open spotify on my phone. What should I do?

I've already made it available offline on my mac.

That doesn't sound cool.

If after adding them to the desktop app you’re unable to sync them to your mobile or tablet, check the following:

• You're logged in to the same account on both your desktop and your mobile or tablet.
• Your devices are connected to the same WiFi network.
• You have the latest version of the Spotify app installed (on both devices).
• Your device's firmware is up-to-date.

I've followed your instructions but it still doesn't want to work. 

Is it not working because spotify does not have a desktop application for the mac (it's not available in the app store) just a web app that can be downloaded from spotify's website?
