MacBook Pro 16" 2019 - Dual external monitors
macOS 12.0.1
Spotify Premium for macOS (Intel)
1.1.72.439.gc253025e
Updated to the latest version yesterday and CPU now running @ 100%
Have already tried a clean install using these instructions.
Hardware acceleration is off
Crossfade is off
Show local files is off
Only noticed issue after latest update. I am in activity monitor somewhat frequently so would have noticed if Spotify was topping the list.
I have the same issue, but I am using M1 Macbook Air Big Sur 11.6.1.
Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon)
1.1.71.560.gc21c3367
I have tried reinstall spotify, clear cache, restart spotify but I have no luck.
I noticed it only happens when playing in certain playlist (my own playlist). Some playlist is fine. Weird one.
Same exact issue here as well (it hovers around 100% with no end in sight). It's most likely an issue with the latest version since any activity in the range of 100% (on any core) makes my macbook sound like a jet engine, and I noticed it just now. I use spotify daily on this computer.
Spotify for macOS (Intel)
1.1.72.439.gc253025e
MacBook Air 2020 (intel)
MacOS Catalina 10.15.7
Same issue here on macOS (Apple Silicon) 1.1.71.560.gc21c3367. Updated to macOS (Apple Silicon) 1.1.72.439.gc253025e just now but still seeing 100% CPU usage and CPU running at 70 degrees constantly... Spotify is literally killing these computers, please fix! Tried changing all the settings, GPU acceleration, restarting, reinstalling, everything.
Same on Windows 11 with Spotify für Windows 1.1.72.439.gc253025e
Already tried fresh reinstall.
As soon as i played the first song, CPU usage was high, even after restart.
Taskmanger shows many Spotify tasks/subtasks. After every restart of the app, it shows one more task.
I'm having the exact same issues, constant 99% CPU usage until I close the app and then it's fine and the fan stops running. I did a re-install of the app and it did nothing. Mac 2018 on macOS Cataline 10.15.6.
And one more here. It just started today, out of nowhere. I tried all the clean install and more tips, to no avail. This sucks. Please fix- even without playing it goes to 100%+. MacOS 11.6.1, Spotify for macOS (Intel)
1.1.72.439.gc253025e
Seeing the same on Arch Linux
app version: 1.1.72.439
kernel version: 5.15.2
Installed via official .deb
Same here! Spotify process using 100 - 106 % of CPU. No other apps connected to it. No other apps running at the same time. Tried a clean install and all the tips above, still having the same issues. MacBook Pro 2019 ( Intel 2.6 GHz 32 GB RAM ) / macOS Monterey 12.0.1 / Spotify for macOS (Intel) 1.1.72.439.gc253025e
Seems like a cross-platform JavaScript bug
Same on windows 10, my laptop sees unusual high cpu usage from spotify!
Spotify for Windows
1.1.72.439.gc253025e
Exact same issue here
Spotify for macOS (Intel)
1.1.72.439.gc253025e
MacOS Monterey 12.0.1
Macbook Pro 2018
I am also having this issue. It started today. I tried a restart and the clean reinstall per the support guidelines and neither worked.
Spotify for macOS (Intel)
1.1.72.439.gc253025e
MacOS Catalina 10.15.7
MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2019
Intel i9 2.3GHz
Radeon Pro 5600M 8GB
64GB memory
UPDATE, POTENTIAL TEMPORARY FIX
I saw on Reddit that Offline Mode helps the iOS users and stops the iOS app from crashing, so I tried that on the MacOS App.
CPU usage went down to normal 1-2% from 100% and even when going back to online mode, CPU utilisation stayed at 2% and has been staying there for a couple minutes now.
Same issue:
Spotify for macOS (Intel)
1.1.72.439.gc253025e
macOS 11.6.1
Macbook Pro 2019
For me, it only happens on 1 downloaded playlist. Other downloaded playlists are fine. Other streaming playlists are fine.
Hi everyone, same issue here with 100% cpu that started today, only for some specific playlists.
Spotify for macOS (Intel)
1.1.72.439.gc253025e
MacBook Air early 2014
macOS 10.13.6
On Windows 11 i could stop the high cpu usage temporarily by switching to offline mode.
This seems to be a good workaround Daniel3213 + twinsen222. I want to keep this issue open, however, since the underlying bug should be fixed.
I'm having the same issue on my Mac as well.
This is being looked into here:
The issue mentions iOS but it is also causing high CPU usage in the desktop app. Keep checking back to that thread for updates.
Hi everyone,
I am also experiencing the same CPU issue after the latest Spotify update.
MacBook Air 2018 running on BigSur 11.6.1
Spotify for macOS (Intel)
1.1.72.439.gc253025e
