[Mac] Spotify won't play songs which I have previously had on my hard drive AS WELL AS Spotify?

After clearing out most of my iTunes because I use Spotify for everything, Spotify will no longer play songs which I had previously had on iTunes. All of these songs are available on Spotify and work when I play them from my phone, however if the song was previously on my hard drive, it says "unavailable" when tried to play from desktop. What is happening? Please help 😞
