My Question or Issue

Last night Spotify started glitching (literally, then sound start/stop); I thought initially because my HD was almost full so I quit, cleared some HD space and now it crashes as startup. Unlike other app crashes, there is no MacOS report/reopen window, the app simply disappears. On launch, the window with my library will appear, but then any acknowledgment of it disappears as above.

I’ve have so far:

  1. Followed clean reinstall instructions from other thread twice (Including caches, application support, etc. and reinstalled from web).
  2. Restarted 3 times
  3. Issues continues - after above steps I’m able to login (using QR code scan from phone ) but then as soon it loads Home Screen (it even shows what I’m currently playing from phone), any interaction causes the crash.

Unusable at this point.

I’m experiencing the same issue. For now, the only workaround that works for me is quitting Magnet while Spotify is open.

I’ve also reported this to Magnet, since an “Ignore Spotify” option (similar to what they already provide for Chrome) would likely resolve it. That said, Spotify and Magnet worked fine together until very recently, so this may have been introduced by a recent Spotify update.

Hopefully this can be fixed soon because I rely on both apps for daily use.

Experiencing this too. Magnet always worked fine with Spotify, so hoping Spotify fix this!

My Spotify MacOS client crashes on launch. Every time I launch the app, I click into anything and it instantly crashes. Did the full reinstallation process but to no effect. Can someone help me look into this?

Strangely, this issue seems to have magically fixed itself.

To all Magnet users: I think I found a fix to keep Magnet running.

I went into the Magnet settings and turned off the "Show green button menu" setting. Then, I ignored Spotify in Magnet. Now Spotify stays open for me, with Magnet still running.

However, as soon as I unignore Spotify, the behavior starts up again.

I still think there's something going on with Spotify, but at least now I don't have to fully quit Magnet to use Spotify.

Hope it works for others!

As. a Supercharge and Rectangle user I can confirm this is fixed in;
Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon) 1.2.71.421.g794ff5e5

Thanks for that update guys!

Hey folks!

Happy to share this should now be fixed! Make sure you've updated to the latest app version and let us know how things look like on your ends 🙂

Cheers!

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out!

The issue reported in this thread was confirmed fixed by our teams with a recently app version. As we're not seeing too many new reports, it's possible that the issue you're experiencing is slightly different and we'd like to investigate further.

To make sure we cover all bases, there are a few things we'd like to double-check first:

  • Does the issue persist after updating the app?
  • Any difference in the behavior when using another WiFi/internet connection? How about when using the Web Player?
  • Do you have updates pending for your device's OS?
  • Can you try clearing the hosts file? The steps can be found in this FAQ.

Keep us in the loop!
