My Question or Issue

I'm using the Mac app and am running into the problem of music stopping when I press the play button.

The problem I imagine is that I have two Macs, one for work and one for personal use. Both have applications running on them.

I tried the following
- Sign out and signin in with the same account
- Uninstalled the application and deleted the cached data

I already checked this thread.

Hey there @tsuyoshizawa,

Thank you for your post here in the Community. We're sorry to hear that you experience this.

When you reinstalled the app - can you confirm if you followed these exact steps?

If you did, we suggest that you do the following:

  1. Open Finder and, in Finder’s menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder. In the box, type the following location: /private/etc/hosts and press return
  2. A new Finder window will open and your Mac’s hosts file will be selected. Click and drag it out of the Finder window and drop it on your desktop
  3. To open it, simply double-click and it will display the file’s contents in TextEdit
  4. Check for any entries with Spotify in the address
  5. If you do find any lines with Spotify, please remove them
  6. Save your changes and restart Spotify

Let us know how everything goes so that we can keep on assist you if you need us to. We're always one reply away 🙂

Cheers!

Hi @Jeremy, thank you for your response.

> When you reinstalled the app - can you confirm if you followed these exact steps?

I didn't find any entries with Spotify in the address. (Only localhost was there)

After posting here, I am trying quitting the Spotify app on one side.
As a result, the problem seems to be gone currently to me.

I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the problem, but I hope it helps for anyone. Therefore, I accept this thread as solution.

Cheers 😉
