Playback volume goes down to zero after 3-5 seconds

My Question or Issue

Hello I'm having trouble playing songs over my Scarlett 2i2 USB audio interface it has worked for a long time but today when I started Spotify the volume cuts after 3-5 seconds and does not recover unless I switch audio interface to Mac internal speakers.

If I then switch back to my scarlett audio interface the sound cuts again after 3-5 seconds.

I tried reinstalling Spotify but I get the same problem.

Any advice how to solve this?

My system crashed then after boot it started to work again.

So I guess a regular system reboot might have worked also.

Could you try updating to macOS Mojave 10.14.6?
