Songs not playing - progress bar shows as full and pause button shows

Since a few weeks back I'm having issues with Spotify not playing a number of songs. The progress bar shows up as full (song completed) from the start and I can't move the circle on the progress bar manually to restart or start the song at an earlier stage either. The pause button shows (so as if it's playing) and I can't skip backwards, only forwards and then it'll skip to another song. It's highly frustrating as my Spotify just gets quiet every now and then (and it's songs that I've played previously without issue). Seems to be an issue with the same songs lately though, so on some playlists I have this issue with the same songs every time I play the playlist. Haven't noticed if it concerns local files, but it's certainly an issue for Spotify songs. Have restarted Spotify a number of times.

Anyone else have the same issue? Found a way to get around it?

Have you tried reinstalling the app? Use AppCleaner (http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/) to clear every file Spotify might have saved on your Mac, then download it again.
