Songs not playing

Songs not playing

Songs have not been playing for me for the past 3 days. The play button is even blacked out. This problem is happening both on my personal Chromebook and on my work computer. I have tried restarting both and logging out and back in, but this has not fixed the problem. I do not have an ad blocker running.

Hey,

Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry to hear that you're having trouble!

We know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try a quick reinstall? Just follow the steps here.

If you're still having trouble, could you let us know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system that you're running?

Also, do you get any error messages when this happens?

We'll see what we can suggest!

Thanks,

/M

As I stated before, I use a Chromebook. Spotify only runs on the web
browser with a Chromebook, so I cannot uninstall it and reinstall it. I
have tried restarting the Chromebook and have made sure it was updated
completely. The problem also exists on my work computer, where I also use
the web browser (Chrome) to use spotify. These computers are not linked in
any way, so it appears that something is wrong with my account.

I do not have access to my Chromebook right now, but my work computer is
operating on Windows 7 Professional. I am attempting to use Spotify through
the most recently updated Chrome browser.

No error messages appear. Just nothing happens if I ever click the play
button next to a song. The play button in the bottom middle of the web
browser remains blacked out.

Thanks for the info.

Are you on a home or office network? Does the issue happen if you use a different browser with your work computer?

You can also try having a friend log into their account to see if the issue persists for them while using your computers.

Let us know how it goes!

My personal Chromebook is on a home network. My work computer is on an
office network. If I use a different browser (Firefox), the problem
persists.

I do not have the login info for other people so I can't log into someone
else's account. It seems that whichever computer or browser I use to log
into spotify, songs will not play. The play button is blacked out in all
cases.

Thanks for getting back to us.

No worries. You don't need their log in info. You just need to ask them to log into their account on your devices to see if the issue persists for them.

If it doesn't persist when using a different account, the issue might be account related.

Be sure to keep us posted on the results.

I simply don't have a friend I can collect to log into Spotify on my
computer anytime soon. Since every computer I log into Spotify with, and
with every browser I use, this issue persists for me, can we assume it's an
account issue? How would I fix it?

No worries.

In that case you can create a new account here. Once the account is made, test it out on your devices to see if the issue is in fact account related.

If the issue persists, it might be your device. If that's the case, we suggest you try using Spotify on a different device to see if the same thing happens. You can try testing it out on a friend's phone or computer.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

I made a new account and the problem didn't exist anymore. I also
downloaded the app on my phone and had no issues using my usual login. I
however still have the same issue I originally complained about on my
original account (which I'd like to keep) whenever I login into Spotify
using the web browser, no matter which computer or browser I'm using.

*How do I fix this problem?*

Thanks for letting us know!

Since the issue is account related, it'd be best if you reach out to our team via Twitter, Facebook, or email. Be sure to reach out to them with the info for both of your accounts.

They'll definitely be able to help.

Be sure to let us know how it goes. 🙂

Hey @mrjoeyscott!

We're closing this thread as we didn't receive an answer from you. If you're still having the same issue, just give us a shout.

All the best 🙂
