Hi,
First, I'd like to say that I've looked upon many topics to search for an answer to this question and didn't find one that worked for me.
As it is written in the title, I'm on MacOs and when I try to launch Spotify, I just have a blank black screen juste like this (picture below). I tried to reinstall it many times (and emptying the caches) but it never changed something. I looked for a ru.mo in the app folder, and I don't have it (picture below too).
Please can someone help me ? This is the only way I have to add song to a playlist with friends.
Thanks a lot
Hey @Nealers, welcome to the Community.
I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with Spotify!
Please try to disable Hardware Acceleration and see if that helps.
To disable it just go to Spotify Menu next to the Apple Logo and click on it.
Let me know how it goes 🙂
Hi @LorenXK !
Thanks for your quick answer ! However I forgot to mention that I've tried that too and that it didn't work...
Have you got other trails ?
Hey @Nealers,
Sorry that it didn't help.
Please make sure you have followed this steps when you uninstalled Spotify:
You probably have read this thread. Have you tried this way of resolving the issue, these steps were posted in that thread:
"I found the file on OSX (it's located in ~/Library/Application Support/Spotify). Here are the relevant lines in prefs:
network.proxy.addr="proxyout.xxx.xxx:8080@https" network.proxy.mode=2
What I did was change it to this:"
network.proxy.addr="proxyout.xxx.xxx:8080@http" network.proxy.mode=2
Try it and let me know how that goes 🙂
this is the exact issue I'm facing too - can you explain how to have Spotify actually function in less technical jargon?
seems so surprising that a multi-billion dollar company is incapable of having its app function on regular computers without complex additional hacking.
Hey @blackscreen99,
Hope you are doing great!
Try to disable Hardware Acceleration, just click on the Spotify Menu in the Menu Bar next to the Apple Menu, find Hardware Acceleration and next click on it to disable then confirm to restart Spotify.
Let me know how it goes 🙂
