Spotify Being Glitchy

Hey guys,

 

I love my Spotify, don't get me wrong, but is anybody else finding heaps of problems with it nowadays?

 

A few months ago it ran perfectly, but in the last few weeks I've had problems adding songs to playlists; problems with my spotify connect; problems with the daily mix feature, etc.

 

Is anybody else finding that it's just not as solid or stable as it used to be? Am I the only person finding this?

Sorry to hear you are having issues with Spotify on your Mac! That's not cool. 

 

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps at all? Maybe a reinstall may help.

 

If that does not work, please can you provide me with the following information:

  • Your exact device
  • MacOS (listed under  > About this Mac?)
  • Spotify version (Spotify -> Settings -> About Spotify)

Thanks for the reply, yes, have re-installed Spotify on all my devices.

I have 2 Mac's, a Late 2015 iMac with High Sierra 10.13.3, and a Macbook
pro 15inch 2016 with High Sierra 10.13.3.

My spotify on both is version 1.0.75.483.g7ff4a0dc

Now I have done a bit more research, and adding songs to playlists is still
temperamental, and I simply can't get my Daily mix to be endless, but I
think I have worked out where the Spotify Connect issue lies. I have
worked out that my 2 computers really struggle to connect with each other
when I play one of my daily mixes. If I am playing albums or normal
playlists, there are no issues with Spotify Connect - I play through my
iMac but control from my Macbook pro, and it is a part of Spotify which I
treasure! However, when I play a Daily Mix, suddenly my computers stop
appearing as a choice, and quite often it will play through both devices at
the same time.

So yes, have updated both Mac's, and have updated and re-installed the
Spotify's on both computers. From research, it seems that problems with
adding songs to playlists is quite widespread at the moment, and I too am
not the only one experiencing Daily Mixes which stop at the end of around
song 20 and just sit there. But I have not heard of many issues with the
Spotify Connect, and it is interesting that all my Connect problems happen
whilst I am playing a Daily Mix.

Could you confirm that all devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, also does this happen on every device? Including tablets, phones etc?

 

Do you remember when you started experiencing issues with Spotify? The exact timestamp would help a lot!

Hi Tom,

 

Yes, we were on the same internet, though my laptop is connected through wifi, whilst my iMac is connected through an ethernet cable.

 

I don't really use spotify on my phone, so I'm afraid I can't say if the same thing happens through it.

 

I started noticing my connect playing up on the 20th, I actually wrote another question about it, you can probably find my question if you go to my account.

We're sorry to hear you're having trouble adding songs to playlists, and playing your Daily Mixes via Connect. 

 

Could you let us know a bit more about your playlist issue? On the desktop app, are you getting an error message when you try to add a song to a playlist? 

 

Could you also let us know a bit more about your Daily Mix issues? You should be able to listen to more than 20 songs, and you should also be able to play it over Connect. 

 

It looks like a new version of Spotify has been released since you first reached out. How're you getting on with this version?
