Spotify keeps crashing when i open it! was working fine yesterday, now i can't even open it, have to force quit every time it launches!

Seems this defect has been around for a while and no fix yet! what is going on? Not happy about paying for a service when it doesnt even work!

Hey everyone. If you have a gap ad on Spotify when you start up, try playing it then pausing it a day using Spotify. Found this on another thread and fixed my problem. Odd I know but it worked for me!

I updated to 10.6.8 yesterday, and Spotify has been crashing like crazy ever since, whenever I add or remove songs from playlists. I'm paying premium, so no ads.

There is a new version of the client which is rolling out which should hopefully help with the crashing issue.

If you haven't got it yet, you can download and install it manually see this post for details.

Have you tried a reinstallation? Does the console show any error logs about the crash?

Yes tried reinstalling that is suggested, not use at all!

also noticed that the spotify folders  and files in the libary ( i.e spotify cache and Application Support folder) didnt exist at all!

You are aware that the library folder that would contain the cache is hidden, correct?

console:

Yes i was aware of that ran the following to reveal hidden files:

defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES

Perhaps that's the problem possibly that there is no cache folder or .com.spotify.client folder

Console reports the attached:

@lucushunt1 - thanks for that crash log. We've passed it onto our tech team to investigate. If anyone else can provide similar, we'll pass those along too. They're the most helpful things for diagnosing crashing issues!

To judge my musical taste, check out my last.fm.

I'm having the SAME EXACT problem with the same OS X version.  Any luck yet?

Same problem here even after clean install (including cache and application support), using MacOS 10.8.5 and Spotify 0.9.1.57.ge7405149 .

I have a Spotify Premium subscription, so the problem has nothing to do with ads.

Interestingly, after trying dozens of times, it did not crash once and allowed me to use it. I noticed that - while accessing the preferences, I got the MacOS system's popup window saying that my home NAS is not available... as if it was Spotify trying accessing it. I then tried this: went to Preferences > Local files and deselected any of the three options: Music, Downloads or iTunes. In all three cases, Spotify allowed me to do it but hang for about 30 seconds in the process, and the same MacOS system popup came out every time at the end of the hang. I disabled all of them,

What is Spotify trying to do with my home network???

Same problem here. Running Mac OS 10.8.5. Spotify worked fine all day yesterday.

Same problem here.  Mac OS 10.8.5 and latest version of Spotify.  Spotify will initialize and then promptly crash after being open for about thirty seconds.  This is whether any content is being played or not.

I'm having the same issue.

I'm having the exact same issue too.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. Spotify crashes 30s after being launched. Tired uninstalling and installing - was of no help. Was working perfectly fine yesterday.

Mine is the same way but, now it just shuts down with out telling me why or that it even crashed

Exactly the same thing that is happening to me and i personally dont like itunes so i am stuck using it or youtube now and its a pain
