Spotify Unusable on Mac Desktop

Spotify Unusable on Mac Desktop

Monterey 12.7.1

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

Latest Spotify Version.

I tried all of the suggestions of deleting pref files and reinstall nothing seems to help.

Volume not working. Progress bar not working. Huge lag between selecting songs if that even works. Try to quit the app but it just freezes so have to force it to close. After opening again all of the same issues.

Any suggestions. I love Spotify but don't want to be stuck with just mobile and the web player is garbage.

Hey @user-removed,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

Just to check, does clearing saved cache make any difference? Once it's done, try signing out and back in again. We understand that this may sound a bit odd, but completing these steps should resync your account info.

Also, if possible, could you ask a friend or family member to log into their own account on your Mac to see if they encounter the same issue?

Let us know how you get on.

That didn't help. I've tried every method mentioned in these forums and nothing works. The only one is having someone else log in. I'll try that today.

On first startup it works normal. Start the first song and it plays (progress bar does not move though) but after that any other action has a crazy delay. I just timed it and I selected another song, it took 34 seconds for it to play. Same with any other action. The only way to close Spotify is to force it to quit also.

I'll let you know if another account fixes it.

So I just logged into my sons account and it fixed the issue. I assume my account it corrupted or something else is wrong with it?

I contacted support and we transferred everything to a new account. That fixed the issue. This is resolved.

Hey @user-removed,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

Happy to hear it worked out alright with the new account and that you're back on track.

Should anything else appear, the Community is here for you.

Cheers!
