My Question or Issue

After upgrade to Big Sur 11.4 Spotify app doesn't work. Reinstall doesn't help. /Library/ folders with *spotify* doesn't exists either in /Caches/ either in /Application Support/.

Application launches but it's just black:

Hey there @james196,

Welcome to the Community!

Could you try a clean reinstall first - if you haven't already? It's also worth removing any entries in the hosts file (instructions here) or looking for the cache folder mentioned by @Karolisnet.

If none of the above makes a difference, it'd be great if you could share the following details with us so we can take a closer look at things:

  • Your country
  • What language have you selected for the app?
  • In case it's not English - does the app work if language is switched to English?
  • Exact Spotify app version
  • Device (make + model) plus OS version
  • Can you use the web player?

Keep us posted 🙂

SAME ISSUE (Persistant black screen on Big sur 11.3 with 2017 Macbook pro)! Solved by going to '/Users/My_Username/Library/Application Support/Spotify' and deleting every folder within that Spotify folder.
