My Question or Issue

Hello, I closed my Spotify app on my computer and changed my password. After I chnaged it, I went to reopen the app and it simply opened a black screen. I closed it and restarted the app several different times with no luck, and eventually deleted and reinstalled the app. These techniques did not wourk and it still shows me a vlack screen. I also restarted my computer. Any ideas?

Hey @MaddieAnnT, welcome to the Community.

Hope you are doing great!

Try to disable Hardware Acceleration, just click on the spotify Menu in your Menu Bar next to the Apple Menu, just find Hardware Acceleration and next click on it to disable then confirm to restart Spotify.

Let me know how it goes 🙂

Unfortunately that did not work.

Hey @MaddieAnnT,

Sorry that didn't help 🙂

I'd recommend perfoming a clean install by performing these steps:

  1. Click Spotify in the menu bar then Quit Spotify.
  2. Open Finder then click Go > Library in the menu bar. (You may need to hold the Alt key if Library isn’t visible).
  3. Open Caches and delete the com.spotify.Client folder.
  4. Click the back arrow.
  5. Open Application Support and delete the Spotify folder.
  6. Download and install Spotify.

Let me know how it goes 🙂

Hey guys,

For me the same problem does occur.. I tried all above mentioned solutions but it still does not work for me. Would be great to be helped because I can't make use of spotify right now.

Kind regards,,

This unfortunately did not work either, I tried it twice.

Hey @MaddieAnnT & @Manoti,

Try to create another user account and install Spotify there.

I'd also recommend checking these 2 threads to see if they help: 1 & 2
