Spotify connect not working anymore in old versions?

My Question or Issue

Hi there! I used to enjoy my vintage Macbook for streaming music via Spotify directly to my Hi Fi. This was quite an awesome experience because I used my IPhone to operate with it. But the vintage Mackbook is not shown anymore in the Spotify Connect list of devices. Why? Is there anything I can do to have it back. I find this a great way to give my vintage macbook a use and not just throw it to the bin.
