Ever since I updated to my current version the issue seems to have stopped for me!
Yesterday, I updated to MacOS Sonoma 14.5. I started Spotify and listened to some music. The activity monitor showed everything was fine. I left the machine on overnight and this morning the Force Quit Application dialog was up and Spotify had consumed all the application memory.
I've been having these same issues for months and trying to ignore them. This week I'd had enough and tried all the standard recommendations for fixing this: clean install, deleting downloads folder contents, etc. No change. App still using 100% of a cpu and will never close without being forced to close. What the heck kind of music player does this constantly? I pay for this service monthly and the app can't seem to get basic functionality right. On this forum I can see that people have been complaining about this for more than five years! What am I supposed to do to just get some music and peace? My machine is a 2020 M1 MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM, running Sonoma 14.4.1. Thanks.
