Spotify mutes itself after you unmute it

My Question or Issue

1. Playing on my smart speaker.
2. Mute when an ad comes on.
3. Unmute when the ad ends and a song is playing.
4. A few seconds later it goes back to being muted.
5. Click unmute again, now it actually unmutes.

It actually does play for about a second, but then mutes itself about a second later. Then I click unmute again, and it waits about 2 seconds then unmutes and stays unmuted.

Thanks for reporting this behavior!

We're unable to provide an ETA for a fix at the moment, but we’re regularly looking for opportunities to enhance the user experience for everyone, so your feedback on this is greatly appreciated.
 

In the meantime, if you're muting the in-app volume slider, check if muting the speaker instead makes a difference or vice versa. Make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates as well.
