Spotify no longer recognizes local files

Spotify no longer recognizes local files

Plan : Premium

Country : France

Operating System : Mac

Before, Spotify linked my local files to the titles in the Spotify catalog (when my local titles were properly tagged) which was convenient for migrating my entire iTunes library to Spotify.

But now he doesn't make any connection. Each artist and album is grayed out, even when they are perfectly tagged (same title, same artist name, same album name as those in the Spotify catalogue)

Watch the same screenshots on different dates:

How can I fix that ?

Bonjour @valentinld, thanks for writing!

My first suggestion is that you go to your Settings (top right corner of the screen, in your username) and scroll down to Local Files.

Then disable/enable the buttons and let me know if it helps.

I've already tried that and it doesn't change anything.

Have you tried deleting the local files cache? If not, follow these steps.

  1. Close Spotify
  2. Navigate to "C:\Users\#USERNAME#\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Users\" in your file browser.
  3. There should be a folder in the named similarly to "1111111111-user", the numbers will be different, however.
  4. Delete the file named "local-files.bnk"

Good luck!

Tried to remove the local-files.bnk, it reloads my local files but it still doesn't match with the catalog titles. Maybe the feature has been removed in the last update of Spotify?

Hey @valentinld,

It sounds like some of the app files got corrupted somehow.

In this case I suggest downloading this free app cleaner:

http://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/

When you open up the app, click the search icon and search for Spotify and it will automatically find and delete all files on your computer related to Spotify.

After that, download and reinstall Spotify.

Note: after you reinstall make sure to go into the Spotify settings and redo your preferences

Hope this is more helpful!
