Growl (2.1.3) suddenly stopped showing Spotify notifications (Macbook Air running 10.10.2, Spotify version 1.0.1.1060.gc75ebdfd). When I emailed Growl support, they told me that Spotify had "completely removed Growl support." Can anyone confirm, and if so, do you know why?
The new Spotify version was completely remade from the ground up, so it's likely the thing Growl used is no longer supported in the app.
Just want to make sure I read this correctly, with the newest version of Spotify, growl will no longer work?
That's what I was told by Growl support. Spotify has been silent on the issue thus far.
Bummer … how can I then get "now playing" notifications in Notification Center?
I downloaded this application: http://spotify-notifications.citruspi.io/
It's working well enough, but I much prefer Growl's notification system, so hopefully they'll eventually bring back support for that.
Much thanks for this! Running Yosemite on a work Mac and the apps in the app store require the latest software to work, so I was stuck. The link above worked great though. 🙂
