Spotify not working for macOS Catalina 10.5.3

I've read other posts but can't find a fix for my issue.

I'm using a desktop macOS Macbook Pro mid-2012 model, Catalina 10.15.3 upgrade. The installer and application downloads and opens, but the home screen, search and selection doesn't work when you click on anything. The friends listening feed updates and that's about all. 

Been trying to resolve this for months, any help appreciated. FWIW I have tried deleting and reinstalling multiple times.
