Anytime I search for anything it doesn't do anything. Not even the spinning dots. Clicking on a playlist takes roughly 10min to load and when it does, if I click on the artist to go to their page it takes another 10-15min to load and most the time it doesn't even load.
I have tried every single fix in the forums. I've reinstalled, I've cleared cache, I've used the Contra code, I've spoken nicely to it, and I've logged out and back in. I'm paying for a service that doesn't even work properly. I will cancel my subscription and just deal with Spotify playing ads after every single song if it means it will actually work properly.
What is the actual solution to this issue? I've read many thread on here where the solutions offered are a long list of hoops to jump through. Why not just fix it on your end, Spotify? Too busy trying to stop songwriters from getting more money? Ridiculous.
Hey @NAF606, welcome to the Community.
Hope you are doing great!
Try to disable Hardware Acceleration, just click on the spotify Menu in your Menu Bar next to the Apple Menu, just find Hardware Acceleration and next click on it to disable then confirm to restart Spotify.
Also, if you don't use local files try to disable them inside Settings.
Let me know how it goes 🙂
I have the same problem - very frustrating! following this thread to see if any solutions come up.
I agree, seems like there is a bug that need fixing in the Spotify system.

Thank you for the suggestion loxer, tried it and it didn't work for me - but maybe it will for NAF606
I'm sure you'll be SHOCKED to hear that no it doesn't fix it. Still slow as ever. So I return to my original comment: WHY AM I PAYING FOR SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T WORK? Why isn't Spotify fixing this issue since it seems to be an issue for many people rather than having us hack their own code or something to fix it? This is absurd.
Shockingly! No it didn't work.
I'm using Spotify Premium on a MacBook Pro running 10.13.6. It's pathetically, painfully slow to load, find music, switch playlists - you name it. It's rapidly becoming unusable.
Hello?? We're still waiting for a solution. I'm currently sitting at 10 minutes with nothing showing up on a search. Nothing happening at all. This is absolutely garbage. You going to help? Is Spotify going to help?
Hey @NAF606, @mrploppy & @ylvavel,
Sorry for the delay 🙂
Does this happen when you're connected on a certain WiFi network? If it does, turn your WiFi off and wait 30 seconds before switching it back on. If that doesn’t work, try restarting the router.
If possible, also try connecting to a different internet connection to see if that does the trick. If it works with another connection, I'd suggest contacting your ISP for more information.
Furthermore, please check your firewall, if you use one, whether it has Spotify set as an exception.
I'd also recommend checking if it occurs when using the Web Player on your device.
Please let me know how that goes.

This happens to me at home, on my home network - the same network on which everything else works perfectly. Thanks, but it's not a conectivity issue. And it's not a firewall issue either. After an inordinately long startup delay, things work fine. Until I switch playlists, which takes forever also.
When I open the WebPlayer in Chrome, my playlists appear immediately but when I try to play a tune nothing happens. I've tried many different tracks. The WebPlayer isn't supported by Safari.
Hey @mrploppy,
Sorry for the delay 🙂
Could yotry changing a few of the settings within the app, e.g. Sync quality, Stream Quality, Gapless Playback, Crossfade, and see if a different combination of these settings makes any difference?
Also could you try using a browser that supports web player, like Chrome?
If you haven't tried it yet, connect to another network to see if that helps.
Let me know how that goes.
