Spotify prevents mac from sleeping when paused

My Question or Issue

Spotify registers a pmset assertion PreventUserIdleSystemSleep while music is playing, but this assertion is not released when music is paused. Therefore when the spotify app is launched, music is played, and then music is paused the computer will never sleep. pmset -g assertions lists a PreventUserIdleSystemSleep assertion which is only released when the spotify app is quit.
