Spotify unbearably slow on Mac

My Question or Issue

Hi,

Spotify has become unusably slow. 

Starting up Spotify takes around 5 minutes. Getting a song to play sometimes takes up to 15 seconds. Looking up a song or an artist takes up to minute

I've uninstalled Spotify (including the com.spotify.Client folder) a million times. Sometimes, after reinstalling the app, it works normally again. Boots up as quick any other application does. My Mac works fine overall except for Spotify. But that only lasts for a few days. And even if Spotify is running, it sometimes takes up like 50% of my CPU power making my fans go wild. 

Really thinking of quitting my plan because of that.

Hope you're doing great!

Could you try updating to macOS 10.14.6?

Also, try disabling Hardware Acceleration by going into the Spotify menu in the Menu Bar.
