Static noise on music lately

For the last few weeks, I notice static on every song while playing spotify on my Macbook Pro (its own speakers) only, but not when played on my desktop or the Amazon Fire app. 

I thought my laptop might be damaged but I have tested out my SiriusXM account, playing online  with this laptop and do not hear the static with that.

I'm stumped, help?

I got a friend to sign up on her Android and she is complaining of hissing. I can't recommend a solution.
