My Question or Issue

Pressing the clear search button (X) opens up the recent searches page (same way as pressing the search bar normally would). Clearing the search bar should do just that, nothing else.

When the search bar is empty it loads up the recently searched, this is the way most other software handles it.

Yes I know, that's not the problem. The problem is when you have text in the search bar and you press the X icon (to remove the text), instead of only removing the text the client will remove it AND send you to the recent searches page.

so when you clear the search bar it will go bak to the recent searches area

Yes. I understand that clicking empty search bar would do that but IMO there's no point doing that when you're just emptying the search bar with the X icon.
