Unable to access Spotify web site on MacOS

Unable to access Spotify web site on MacOS

am using macOS Big Sur 11.1 on a MacBook Pro


Premium user based in UK


Spotify app was not connecting to the internet despite there being a working internet connection


As per recommendation, I uninstalled the Spotify app and deleted the appropriate files


I am now unable to access the Spotify download page


Error message: 

This site can’t be reached took too long to respond.

Try: Checking the connection

Checking the proxy and the firewall


Site doesn't work on several browsers (Chrome, Opera, Safari)




I have no firewalls

On iPhone and iPad: app and website works, even on the same network


This is incredibly frustrating and any help gratefully received.


Spotify support - if you’re listening I am paying 15 quid a month so expect a better service to be honest. I may have to change provider.

As soon as I posted this topic I managed to locate the issue!


Check for any spurious DNS settings:


System Preferences->Network


Select your WiFi and then select Advanced...


Select the DNS tab and remove any manual settings.
