Unable to customize anything on Desktop application (Free account)

My Question or Issue

I am unable to customize any of the settings on my account in the desktop application. Currently I cannot change my profile picture or add descriptions to my playlists. I have watched multiple tutorial videos and the desktop client looks entirely different for other users. Is this because it is a free account?

I'm sorry but if you have a free account you cannot modify playlist cover art etc...

I am a premium user and while I can edit playlist covers my partner cannot with her premium account. It seems Spotify is testing with some accounts who have the desktop app with severe design flaws and other limitations. My account on the desktop app (mac) says 1.1.34.694.gac68a2b3 and it looks fine. When my partner logs into the same machine the version says 1.1.34.694.gac68a2b3-a
