My Question or Issue

The previous version worked more or less correctly.

It is only updated to the new version 1.1.61.583 and although the program opens, whether you wait a few seconds or press the login button, it closes immediately.

I have already tried to delete all related folders in my user's library, caches and saved state.

It does not solve anything. As soon as you press login or any point in the Spotify window closes. Even without doing anything, just waiting also closes the only.

I can't find crash messages, but the following related messages appear on the console:

I have not been able to ensure that none of the proposed solutions will let me use the versions of the Spotify application mentioned, nor have I had time to dedicate to start from another user as proposed.

I've been using a web application to access my music, but today I got an update to the official Spotify client, to version 1.1.64.561 that had to change something, or maybe my previous steps solved it without realizing it. The case that today I am listening well from the current official client. I close the issue.

Thanks to everyone and the Spotify team that fixed the issue, or whoever is responsible 🙂

Hey @MacTerrassa,

Thanks for posting.

Just to confirm, have you tried a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your device? We recommend the steps in that guide, as they’re very thorough and make sure no damaged leftover files remain. These changes tend to solve issues like the one you're experiencing. Give your device a quick restart as well before you open the newly installed app.

Afterwards you should also check your host file for Spotify entries and remove any you find. Even though it was written for another topic, this page has instructions on how to do this.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on how it goes.

I've been having a similar issue. I've done a clean install more than 3 times and every time I try to open Spotify on my mac app it says something went wrong.  I've also pressed reload multiple times with no changes.

In principle, I had already followed those steps. The only thing I did not take into account was to restart the mac after the deletion. This week I have been out and have not been able to test again on the mac with problems. As soon as I return, I will try like this. Greetings.

Hey folks,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

@anafilipavc if that doesn't do the trick, you should also check your host files. Even though it was written for another topic, this page has instructions on how to do this.

@MacTerrassa could you let us know the model of your PC? Keep in mind that Apple Silicon architecture is currently not supported. If you have such a device, we recommend adding your support for this idea.

Keep us posted how you get on.

I have already tried to reinstall Spotify, previously deleting all the Spotify folders and documents within my user library, and I have rebooted.
I have tried it several times. And different days. Without any solution.
For now, I have reinstalled the old version that starts me fine but does not quite work, because in addition to insisting on updating, it blocks my songs every two or three. And it forces me to restart the program constantly.
In the end I have given up. And I am using Web Catalog with an adapted version of the web browser but I don't like it very much. I'm considering leaving premium because if you can only use updated devices anyway, maybe Apple Music is better.
I had both a long time ago, and I liked Spotify's content better and its support for "outdated" systems. If this is no longer the case, what reason to prefer it remains?

Hi @MacTerrassa,

Thank you for keeping us posted.

Could you try deleting the Hosts on your PC? Even though the topic is different, in this article you can find the steps to do it on a Mac.

If this doesn't fix it, could you try disabling your Firewall and trying out the app?

Let us know how this goes!

I still have the same problem. Both by returning the hosts file to its initial value and by canceling the Firewall.

I have also tried to include the lines about Spotify in Hosts, but it does not change the behavior. Whether I block or delete them to unblock Spotify, the program closes immediately after opening the initial window. With the same or similar messages on the console.

I usually already have the Mac FireWall disabled, since I use NetBarrier (Intego) but it seems strange to me that it causes the application to close, if it could influence browsing or identifying. Anyway, I have also tried disabling it to no avail.

I think it is rather something that is not compatible with Mac OS 10.11. On my other mac with 10.15 I have not had any problems with these versions.

Hey @MacTerrassa,

Thanks for keeping us posted 🙂

If possible, could you try logging in to your account on another Mac to see if anything changes?
