When headphones turn off automatically, Spotify continues playing on the laptop speakers

My Question or Issue

When I put down my headphones (SONY WH-1000XM4 v.2.5.0) they automatically turn off after a some time. When this happens the Spotify app continues playing on the laptop speakers instead of putting the playback on pause, as I expect based on the way it behaves on my mobile phone.

The behavior you're describing is expected when you're using Spotify Desktop app connected to external speakers. It's not guaranteed that playback will stop at the time your headphones turn off automatically.
