Why doesn't a song URL open in the Spotify application for Mac?

Using version 10.13.5 OSX, opening a hyperlink to a song in Messages sends the user to the default browser to play the song. For me, it's often in an incognito Chrome window, so I'm rarely logged in. I end up just copying and pasting the URL into the search bar of the Spotify for Mac Application, which gives me the desired song. Is there any way we could (developers) shorten the process to make it an easier UX? Thanks guys, I really love spotify so far!

So just clicking the link doesn't work? Have you tried to open the link this way on your phone? If the issue indeed persists, you could try to submit a new feature for this.
