"Play On Spotify" Button STILL does not work when you embed a playlist web widget

I've embedded a Spotify playlist on my website. When you click play, it only plays the first 30 seconds of the first song (I totally understand this is due to licensing restrcitions - not a problem) But, after about 5 seconds of playing the first song in the playlist, all the tracks in the play list disappear and instead a huge call to action button appears saying "Play On Spotify". Again, this is totally fine... BUT when you click on the big button that says "Play On Spotify", absolutely nothing happens! It's a dead link. It doesn't open the Web based Spotify or even your downloaded Spotify software. It just does nothing. So infuriating! Even if you have the downloaded Spotify software open, it doesn't jump to that and play the playlist.

It seems like this is an issue that has been happening since 2018 and not been fixed. Looks like it is just a desktop issue though as the "Play on Spotify" button works fine when I view the website on my Android device (it opens the Spotify app and plays the playlist - excellent.)

Desktop wise, I'm using MAC 10.13. and browser is Chrome, Version 80.0.3987.149
