spotify plays randomly through wireless speakers even when no device has spotify running

Okay so spotify plays randomly through my wireless speakers even when no device has spotify running.  I also turned off the streaming app (Klipsch) which might have been the culprit.  There is literally nothing that is active, laptops are closed, phones have spotify closed.  The speakers are connected to the wifi network, but surely they need some software to play the music!?  I must admit though that Spotify does spontaneously start playing when i leave my laptop open (if the software is open), but this is a step too far!
