Verified profiles are the ones which have blue tick next to their profile pictures. 

You can request verified account here, but as you see there, unfortunately Spotify does not accept requests from the general public. 

Anyway I can be wrong for the verified profiles, but I'm almost sure that I've seen users with hyperlinks in description

I am also a verified artist and can not hyperlink. Pretty restricting in terms of linking outside of Spotify and pretty unfair that some users can and some can't.

Has this been fixed?

Circling back a year later to see if this is something still in the works? Would be awesome to be able to link to artists, other profiles and outside pages from within playlist descriptions!

I'm having the same problem. The thing is, though, I have a verified artist profile, in which my account is a team member of, as the artist. How can we do this? Do we have to create the playlist through the Artists app or something?

Sorry for the incorrect info.

It looks like the ability for artists to add links to their playlist descriptions has been discontinued.

The FAQ on the artist site doesn't show the "add link" field in the screenshot and it has no mention of being able to add a link anymore.

Also, I wanted to point out that artists can now add their social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) links to their artist page.
