All songs gone from Spotify. I mean ALL of them.

Solved!

All songs gone from Spotify. I mean ALL of them.

Country

 USA

Device

 Alienware 17 R3

Operating System

Windows 10

So basically there is no songs whatsoever on my app.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, restarting my device, powering it all the way off and all the way back on, and this has been going on for a few hours now. Nothing I try seems to work, but it does display what I'm listening to from my phone. As seen from the attached image, apparently Today's Top Hits "is currently empty."  So, if possible, I'd like my desktop music back :).

Hi @NickTraiiin, thanks for writing!

I'm sorry about that. Please try the following steps and let me know if it helps:

  • Log out > Restart desktop > Log back in
  • Reinstall app from Windows Store

After that, remove all lines from their hosts file that are blocking Spotify:

  1. Open Notepad as an administrator (right-click - Open as Administrator)
  2. Go to File - Open and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
  3. Choose "All Files" instead of "Text Documents" next to the File Name box. You'll see a handful of files. Pick hosts and click on Open
  4. When the file is open, you will see a block of text with # in front of each line and might see entries like 0.0.0.0 website.com127.0.0.1 website2.com
  5. Check for any entries with Spotify in the address. Examples may look like: 0.0.0.0 weblb-wg.gslb.spotify.com0.0.0.0
  6. If you do find any lines with Spotify, please remove them.
  7. Save your changes and restart Spotify

Keep me posted!

Try deleting the line that contains "spotify" anyway, seemed to fix my Spotify.

As for step 5, I could not find any lines beginning with # containing "Spotify." There were several lines that contained "Spotify," but none of them began with #.

Another update: The web player will also not work.

I tried launching the web player and it says that it refuses to connect. Spotify just does not want to work on any platform on my laptop :/.

Hey @NickTraiiin ,

That's odd. This issue is under investigation by the Spotify staff, and you might get some further information/tips clicking on the link bellow.

So I did that and got my Spotify working again! There were a lot of lines containing "Spotify," so it must have been some weird glitch on the firewall's part, or whatever was keeping it off my internet. I deleted all of the lines even though none of them started with "#," but in the end it did work. Thanks! 😁

Hey @MarsRunner7260 thanks for the help!

I'm glad it's now solved, @NickTraiiin .
