[BUG] Smart Shuffle is turning off after I ignore multiple songs

[BUG] Smart Shuffle is turning off after I ignore multiple songs

Hello, I am writing to report an issue with the Smart Shuffle feature of Spotify. For more than around two weeks now or even since I've been using it whenever I ignore a song multiple time it turns off smart shuffle or atleast breaks it on the app itself it's not marked as turned off but as you can see in the video we can clearly see that it stopped working. Note that it works just fine on the iOS Spotify app. In video 2 we can see the smart shuffle songs being added and then quickly after being removed. It looks like everytime I ignore a song the smart shuffle is creating a brand new queue. It also happens on the Microsoft Store version of Spotify.

Both iOS app and Desktop Windows is up to date
As I'm writing this my Desktop Windows Spotify version is:

Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.26.1187.g36b715a1

Here is some more info about the issue

Plan: Premium
Country: France
Device: PC
Operating System: Windows 11 23H2

Hi @RealAztup,

Thanks for the detailed summary!

Does this occur with a specific playlist or with all of your playlists? If possible, try logging in to another account (a friend's or a relative's would do) to see if the issue persists there.

Keep us posted. Cheers!

Hello, this seems to mostly happen on big playlists I just tried on a 20 song playlist and it happened but it's not exactly the same it still contains the recommended songs but they are not every 3 songs they are at the very end of the queue (as shown in vid 1) perhaps that's also the case with big playlists? If they are at the end of the queue i'm never gonna be able to check them tho.

I also tried on another account the other day and it was also happening and the web player does not have the smart shuffle feature so I won't be able to test it but it works fine on my phone so it seems to only be the desktop application.

Thanks for the follow-up @RealAztup, and happy New Year!

Could you check if changing the app's Hardware Acceleration setting has an effect on this? You can do this by clicking the three dots menu in the top left corner > View > Hardware Acceleration.

Something else you can try is restarting your PC in Safe Mode with Networking to see if the issue persists there.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hello thank you happy new year to you too.

I tried turning off hardware acceleration and starting my pc in safe mode but that did not fix the issue.

I really think this is a Spotify bug in the desktop application. After some more testing on my phone I noticed the exact same thing happens except it auto fixes itself after a few seconds it refresh the queue with new recommendations on the Desktop app it does not do that. I know it sounds confusing here is a video of what I mean. You can see that at the end the queue has no more recommended songs and then it fixes itself.

Hey there @RealAztup,

Thanks for all the additional info and for the video!

We're unable to recreate this from our end and no other reports of this behavior is being reported at the moment. So with this in mind, and all the troubleshooting we've suggested so far, we've done some investigation from our end, and as a heads-up, it seems like it might be related to the specific setup. In this case, we’re not able to confirm if or when your questions about Smart Shuffle and removing tracks will be resolved.

To guarantee you get the latest features and fixes as soon as we launch them, we recommend keeping your Spotify app up-to-date.

Should anything else appear, the Community is here for you!

Thank you for your reply I always keep Spotify up to date and will continue to do so.

It's very strange that you are unable to reproduce this issue considering I tried on another computer and I was able to reproduce it all I do is this

- Launch Spotify

- Start listening to my playlist (It's pretty big and has over 1,000 songs but I can reproduce it on a small playlist with like 19 songs)

- Turn on smart shuffle

- I open up the Queue and take a close look at it while doing the next step

- Press Next until I have a recommendation and then I click Ignore on it

- I continue doing that until the bug happens it usually happens after like 3-10 ignored songs it's pretty random

Note that it would still work if I would not spam next and click ignore everytime but it would just take more time. I hope this helps you to reproduce it as I already said it works fine on the iOS app just not the Desktop app.

Another note: Sometimes I still have some recommended songs but they are at the very end of the playlist as the Smart shuffle introduction says on playlist with atleast 20 songs it should be every 3 tracks considering the playlist I have has 1,000 songs it should almost always be every 3 tracks and certainly not after 40 songs.

Thanks for the reply @RealAztup,

Kudos to you for doing further research and for reporting this to us in more detail. We've tried recreating this from our end, however, with varying results. Spotify constantly strives to improve the user experience & its features, and the easiest way to achieve this is by regular app updates. That's why we appreciate you taking your time to share your experience with Smart Shuffle with us, hopefully, this will be fixed in future app releases.

Cheers!

Hello, I asked my friend today to ask him if he was able to reproduce the issue on the Desktop app and he's able to reproduce the issue he also has the latest version of Spotify but he has the exact same symptoms as me is there anything I can do to help you to reproduce the issue? I am willing to do video calls if needed.

Hello, Spotify just updated today but unfortunately the issue is still here nothing changed I'm on version
