Bring back the option "change the cache directory" on Desktop

Hello!

Many people install Spotify on SSD, because Spotify can not change the installation directory. Spotify writes a lot of cache on disk drive. The bigger cache writes are not desirable for SSD disk. SSD has a limited resource (TBW). Spotify just kills the SSD while listening online every day.

This can be avoided if you enter the option to change the location of cached files. (For example on HDD with bigger size)

There was such an option a few years ago (in 2015), you said you brought it back in 1.0.9:

But now (in 2020), the new Desktop app doesn't have this option.

Hey @Sh1kuren,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

As you seem to have a specific suggestion in mind regarding the option to change the location of cached files and the Idea you mentioned is pretty old (meaning that the related Spotify feature might have changed over time), it'd be great if you'd create a new Idea solely based on your suggestion. This will also help all the other users who have felt like you since it will give them a place to express their opinion in the present.

To do so, make sure to follow these steps:

1. Go to the Spotify Community

2. Click on Menu

3. Click on Ideas > Idea submissions

4. Scroll all the way to the bottom and click on Let’s go

If you wish to learn more about how your feedback will reach Spotify, feel free to take a look at this article.

Cheers!
