Bring "Enhance"/"Smart Shuffle"/"Whatever You Wanna Call It" Playlists back, and on Desktop

Bring "Enhance"/"Smart Shuffle"/"Whatever You Wanna Call It" Playlists back, and on Desktop

Seeing Spotify disable such a useful feature, especially right during the whole AI craze of 2023.. is very bizarre. I understand the teams may want to re-introduce it further down the line, after they've been able to power it with a new, "better" AI/ML platform, but for the love of..... WHY REMOVE THE CURRENT ONE?!? Why isnt it on the Desktop version? C'mon guys, this is an easy fix for tons of people complaining about it missing. Thanks for reading.

Hi @notdan,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Smart Shuffle replaced the previous Enhance button on all platforms except for the Web Player, which doesn't support the feature yet. More info in this article.

We're often testing and launching improvements to the app. This means you might occasionally see something your friend doesn’t, or get a new feature to try temporarily. Still, it's worth logging out and signing back in to your account if you haven't already - this triggers an internal refresh of the app that may help here.

The Community is always here if something else comes up.

Take care.

is there any way I can enable the "enhance" feature? or was it temporarily removed? no methods help me, neither the desktop version nor the mobile app don’t have this feature, although it used to be.

Hey @pereliv,

I'm afraid not. Smart Shuffle is the current alternative on all platforms except the Web Player, where the feature is not supported.

Still, your feedback on this is valuable and important, so thanks for sharing it here - we appreciate it.

Take care.

I also preferred enhanced for my daily listening. As I play music in my office for 8+ hours a day. Have some premade lists, but being able to choose a 3-6 hour list and enhance to 4-8 was great. Also to throw in something I might like, or something in the same vein I had listened to before was great in this format. I find the smart shuffle doesn't appear for me all the time, or work as well.

I do enjoy DJ as well for like the travel or gaming. As it will just play stuff, and I don't have to constantly monitor. However IMO enhance + DJ + recommended songs is the play. Then it would cover almost every use of the app for me. As I said I tend to use at work, in my car, and when I get home; whether that is intimately, gaming or a party. The loss of enhance seems to have impacted lots, as when I google their are plenty of voices missing it.

I honestly miss the enhance feature so much. It was much better for finding new songs and was just one button you could click to turn on or off. I loved that it would suggest a few new songs and if you liked it and wanted it into your playlist it would add three more songs related to the one you just added.
The smart shuffle adds songs I already know 90% of the time and then one and one new song. It also bothers me tremendously now when I want to remove shuffle off a playlist I have to remember to click it twice since the smart shuffle feature activates before shuffle can be turned off completely.

Could you please please please add the enhanced feature back and at least add the possibility to disable the smart shuffle completely?

we'd all massively appreciate it if y'all at spotify brought back the enhance feature. it was incredibly useful and generally loved (never seen anyone speak badly about it, something i really can NOT say about smart shuffle).
