Browing a song list while playing a song boots me back to the home screen

My Question or Issue

 I've had Spotify on my pc for years and haven't had a problem but I restarted my pc earlier and, ever since, if I'm looking at an artist's page or a playlist and I start playing a song, the screen refreshes after a few seconds and takes me back to the opening home page. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but its still happening. I can't play songs without manually searching for them simply because I can't scroll through a page fast enough before it refreshes the home screen. Its like its almost rebooting the player because it starts the orange flashing thing on the taskbar like when you open a new program or whatever
