Can't open or uninstall

Whenever I open Spotify on my Windows 10 computer I get an error that reads:

"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winmmbase.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error..." (see image attached)

Attempting to uninstall Spotify does not work because it pops up the same error, and redownloading doesn't work either because the error appears.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there @ItchyMonkeyHead,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for reaching out about this.

First up, it's well worth running a clean reinstall to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. This one is more thorough than the usual one.

If this doesn't do the trick, would you mind sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your PC?

Also, could you let us know if you're able to use the web player?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂
