I've been having this issue fairly recently, it started a week ago when i was simply unable to play songs from directly searching, which was annoying but spotify was still usuable. However after a reinstall every playlist is empty and i cant play ANYTHING
Hello, I've been having the same issue over the last 2-3 days, but I have found this solution from another thread. I tried it and it worked like a charm:
Go to your C: drive & find the windows folder
then find system 32
then find drivers
then find etc
and then open the file 'hosts' with notepad (make sure that notepad is opened with as an administrator)
delete any line that includes the words 'spotify'.
save
and you should be up & running!
Mate, your solution worked, thanks man!
I've been searching for a solution for like half a year.
Big thanks!
Thanks work fine after messing with the host file
@flamerman101 wow man, thanks it works, edited file hosts ✓
Thank you -
I would like to add how to edit the host file:
Press the Windows key.
Type Notepad in the search field.
In the search results, right-click Notepad and select Run as administrator.
From Notepad, open the following file: c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts.
Make the necessary changes to the file.
Select File > Save to save your changes.
thanks it's work 😭
I had this problem but my host file DID NOT have any reference to Spotify in it and actually stated it was a sample host file. So there was no modification I could make to fix it. However, I did some Googling and found this set of instructions how to reset the host file to the Microsoft default settings. I did this and it worked for me.
# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host # localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself. # 127.0.0.1 localhost # ::1 localhost
