Can't update passed 1.0.55.487.g256699aa!

I know this is an issue that's been raised multiple times but I've yet to find a fix that actually fixes the problem 😕

So I have Version 1.0.55.487.g256699aa and I'll see the 'A new version of Spotify is available (1.0.56.451). Click here to download" in the About Spotify window and try to do so. But all it does is pause a moment, restarts the program, and that's it! No download afaik and no update.

I've uninstalled, deleted appdata files, reinstalled via download from the site and nothing still as it's the same version despite the installer supposedly being the newer version.

Same problem. I even deleted everything from the registry, every folder and data, clean reinstalled, and I'm still not getting the latest version.
