Cant install spotify on win7 (and compatability tshooter doesn't help)

Cant install spotify on win7 (and compatability tshooter doesn't help)

Got a new work PC running Win7 enterprise Sp1.  Downloaded spotify installer - double click and I get the error:

spotifytry1.PNG

Think OK -n need admin to write those files/folders so switch to admin account and get the error:

spotifyc22.PNG

My old work PC had Win 7 enterprise SP1 too and Spotify installed just fine... what is up with this  ?  I tried some steps from web searches (run compatability troubleshooter - mark admin requred checkbox in properties->compatibility but nothing works...

I could only guess
Spotify Installer installs to C:\User\<User>\AppData\Local\Spotify and C:\User\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Spotify
have you tried to create the Spotify folders under Local and Roaming manually with write rights for your Businness account?

Sadly that did not work... checked with icacls command - and both Local and Roaming show full access from my username (redacted to xx)

C:\Users\x\AppData\Local>icacls Spotify
Spotify yy\xx:(OI)(CI)(F)

This tells me its some other file - not under these directories

Puhh, ahhh.
Do you know the tool procmon out of the Microsoft Sysinternals Suite? This tool is logging every access of programs on your system. It's free and it's portable.

You could run a procmon capture while installing Spotify. After the failure of the installer you should exclude all other programs and check at which step the installer fails.
