Computer monitor going to sleep stops playback

My Question or Issue

 When the monitor goes to sleep the playback stops.  This was supposedly addressed over a year ago here in an update, but either it didnt work or has broken since then.  It was mentioned that preventing monitor sleep was considered as a solution but discarded due to increased power use.  I personally would prefer sleep prevention as a temporary solution or even a permanant solution over no solution.
