My Question or Issue
When I play a certain song, the song art and the artist is different on the now playing menu then where I click it to play. Is this supposed to be a thing?
Hey there @Avery_the_Cat,
Thanks for reaching out!
This is odd. Just to confirm, is this happening only with those songs? Have you noticed anything similar on a different playlist?
If you haven't already, we'd suggest performing a clean reinstall of the app. This often helps solve cache related issues.
In case that doesn't do the trick, could you send over the links to the affected songs so we can check them from our end?
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
Actually, I'm sure this has affected other songs, those two were only examples. I can check my other saved playlists, but I'm sure that it's not just my playlist it's affecting.

...I'm using the web player.
But I'd be welcome to send over the songs! I have a playlist with a LONG list of songs, I know, of those 3,360 songs, at least 5 would be affected by the issue. Do you just want me to send over the songs I had shown as examples for now?
Hey @Avery_the_Cat,
Thanks for getting back to us and for the clarification! Apologies for the confusion.
Since you're using the Web player, and if possible, could you check if the same thing happens in the app?
On the other hand, feel free to send the link(s) to any of the affected songs so we can specifically check those.
We'll be here!
I can't download the app, for I am using a work laptop. However, I will send over a few links.
Example songs:
https://open.spotify.com/track/5uUb5cs0l8BRBQDy5QtuxA?si=5ef29191b43a4606
https://open.spotify.com/track/29i09az4CaRhHXEzwlKLPo?si=5fae4e0efa3642cf
It'll be hard to get other songs that do this due to an issue I might describe in a separate post.
Feel free to check out the songs whenever, and sorry for such a late response.
Hi @Avery_the_Cat,
Thanks for the reply, it greatly aided in our understanding of this behaviour.
We were able to consistently reproduce the issue with the songs you sent and could prove that this happens across any device too. We did some further digging and even found more examples, with some songs only appearing with different cover art, others appearing under different artists altogether.
We've passed all the info you've provided as well as our own findings onto the appropriate team. Be advised however that we cannot say for certain at the moment when or if this is going to get addressed. If you have any further info on the topic to share, don't hesitate to send it our way, any bit helps.
Cheers!
