My Question or Issue

Spotify Desktop app is open but not playing.  I receive an incoming phone call on my Teams app and Spotify starts playing music!  This is the wrong time for music to play.

Microsoft Teams version 23190.500.2225.2952.
The client version is 49/23070902137.

Hey there @bethesdaadk

Thanks for reaching out about this and welcome to the Community.

Just to confirm, is this only happening on your PC or on other devices as well?

If this only happens on your PC, it's well worth running a clean reinstall to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

If the issue persists, would you mind sending us a short screen recording of the issue happening so we can take a closer look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

We'll be on the lookout.

Reinstall seems to have fixed it - tested it one time. Thanks.

Hey,

It seems that I have the exact same problem, but reinstalling Spotify won't fix it... Do you have some other ideas how can I fix it?

If it helps somehow, I use a Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones with Sennheiser BTD 600 dongle plugged into a laptop with Windows 11 on it.

Hey @Czubone,

Thanks for reaching out.

As a next step, can you please check i this happen only when the headphones are connected to your laptop? What if you remove the dongle?

Also, does the same happen if you use the browser version of Teams?

Keep us posted.

Hi @MihailY,

Thanks for your answer.

So I checked every option that you mentioned and I'm starting to suspect, that there's some problem between the dongle and Teams.

Generally, the problem occurs (not always, but in most cases) with my standard configuration, i.e. laptop+dongle+headphones.

After unplugging the dongle and connecting to the laptop directly, the problem disappears.

There's also no problem when I answer the call through Teams in a browser, even when the dongle is connected to the computer.

So according to my reasoning it's either the dongle or Teams, not Spotify. Sorry for taking your time on this case 😔

I have the same problem. Windows 11, Bose QC45 connected via Bluetooth, Teams desktop app, Spotify desktop app.

If I have Spotify open, but not playing, then when I answer the incoming Teams call Spotify starts playing.

Hey @Czubone and @youngbrendo,

@Czubone, apologies for the late reply. We're happy to hear that you were able to find the root cause.

@youngbrendo, are you using a Bluetooth dongle to connect the headphones? Also, what troubleshooting have you tried so far?

Keep us posted.
