This not sounds quite right, here is what may be happening with you.
1. Your friend feed is turned off. You can turn it on in your settings > Show friend feed / or View > Right Sidebar
2. If this is not the case you can try log out and log back in the app or make a clear reinstall of your app, as this usually helps for many ongoing issues like this : )
