Friends vs. followers in a Facebook linked account

So, I was wondering: if I've made my Spotify account with my Facebook account, will all my Facebook friends who have Spotify be able to see my activity? Or do they have to follow me? So, say one of my Facebook friends has Spotify but hasn't specifically chosen to "follow" me on Spotify - will they be able to see what I'm listening to? This is probably a stupid question, I just don't fully understand the difference it makes when your accounts are linked.

Hi there!

In the Settings (Preferences) you'll be able to switch Publish my activity on/off. If it's On, everyone that follows you will be able to see what you're listening to. If you don't want that, you should set the setting to Off. 

Likewise, you can choose to publish your activity to Facebook. Turn that setting On or Off.

MY QUESTION IS SIMILAR TO THE ABOVE ONE, SO SOMEONE THAT IS MY FRIEND ON FACEBOOK, AND I FOLLOW ON SPOTIFY, DO THEY SEE WHAT I AM PLAYING IF THEY DONT FOLLOW ME BACK?
