I have a very clear 'like' button next to the song. How do I dislike a song or an artist? I don't mind it coming up once on the rotation, but why should I keep on having to listen to something that I dislike? I guess I could always create my own playlists, but this takes a lot away from the platform. I like discovering new music, but America's Top 50 and other playlists have a lot of music that I don't particularly enjoy, and don't care to hear again.
I swear there used to be a 'dislike' option in the user interface.
just looked at it, in the mixtape. the only circle is with an arrow pointing down for download song. and that only works with premium, so...
and next to the skip track button is the repeat 1/repeat all button.
nope, there is no dislike button in windows app.
again... it is not even available with all playlists. but have you looked for example in a "Daily Mix" on your phone app?
i don't use the mobile app.
Has this feature been removed? Can't find a way to dislike any more. Browser, windows app and android app.
WTAF!
wouldn't matter of course... as it doesn't really work anyway beyond just that single playlist. 🤨
It is September 2023 and I'm still wondering why I cannot hide/dislike songs. I use both the Andriod and the Windows app, primarily the Windows one. I enjoy ambient music and let me tell you - that is a horribly mixed bag. And for some stupid reason some of the most annoying songs keep showing up, over and over, in the mixes and suggested playlists. It is stupid that I cannot block them somehow. But in the PC version of Spotify I don't see any way AT ALL to dislike songs AT ALL. It just doesn't make sense. I thought one of the gimmicks of Spotty was that it "learned" my habits and formed lists and suggestions based on that. I have found this to be untrue. Spotify is much more clumsy and fat fisted. "Oh, he likes ambient? A lot of people like this..." That isn't going to work. It's the same in the rock and metal world. The best Spotty can do is continue to play the same songs I've listened to before, over and over, mixing them with the Top Ten songs of the era. Let me tell you something. If I wanted top ten songs of an era, I would listen to the ******* radio. I HATE MAINSTREAM! It's the whole reason I have Spotify. I want to hear what I want to hear. Not what the industry wants. Not what Spotify wants. Not what fans want. WHAT I WANT. Periodt. lol I just go back to my own database of MP3s. I've got millions. It's a pain in the buttocks but sometimes Spotify royally gets on my nerves. Put in a permanent and working "dislike" mechanism. Screw the poor crying artists if they can't take it. You can't make me listen, not even if you try.
good heavens yes indeed Blahblahblahblah – I hear and suffer right there along with your every accurate word, thank you very much! but what a shame to STILL not see a single response from the moderator (let alone anyone else from spotify) to this thread I've been trying so hard to enliven for over 2-1/2 years now. 😫
i, for myself, found the solution in youtube.
sooooo then o8livion.... would you care to share it? 🤷♂️ because I really don't believe there is one. 😞
simple.
step 1: stop using smartphone and buy a pc.
step 2: whatever browser you use, add adblock so you have no advertisement.
step 3: search for songs you like and add them to playlists.
step 4: repeat listening to them until youtube starts sugguesting you lists that fit.
step 5: dislike the songs you don't wanna hear and throw them out of the playlists.
"tadaaaa... it's ... it's done".
yeah... if only it was. 😓
I have been desperate to figure out how to do this, followed Elena's instructions and found that neither of these options are available. The only thing I could find was to report the artist as offensive, so that's what I did.
This is so frustrating. I'm now googling 'spotify alternatives.' This has really ruined the service for me.
I could scarcely agree more, and there are no reasonable "alternatives". in fact it has so ruined it for me that I long ago actually left spotify entirely. it was an absolute deal breaker for me. so lame. 😕
Never Play This F***ing S*** Again is my guess. Yeeeeeears into the future~
just nonsense of course... as "step 5" has absolutely no permanent effect on any new daily mix playlists. again, put simply: "like" (favorites) works, "dislike" does not.
exactly. just too bad that no one is listening here since spotify's moderator left the thread years ago.........🤷♂️
I agree that this is the most disliked feature of Spotify for me. (It's kind of meta in that way - no way to Dislike!). It seems in an effort to be gentle to the artists we listeners have to suffer. There is one country artist that keeps popping up in my indie rock - I repeatedly have to scour for the "hide" button - which is impossible to find - and then it shows up anyways! Is this guy's label paying Spotify to push this **bleep** on me?! Makes me want to go back to Pandora where I can be clear about what I do NOT want to hear.
tell me about it. which is exactly why I finally just gave up and in fact have abandoned spotify and canceled my subscription... especially as no one from the platform is even listening to this! 🤷♂️
That is it, I have used Premium for about 6 months and every day listen to songs I HATE, and don't have the option to ban them forever.
I am not a masochist, to pay for something I hate, so goodbye Spotify.
